illuminated unicorn

Joey Syta took two years to complete a rendition of the famous 15th century French tapestry "The Lady and the Unicorn" He named his version "My Only Desire". Using only Lite-Brite materials the work is about 5 feet tall by 6 feet wide and is made from 36 overlapping pegboards comprised of approximately 55,000 pegs.

RIP to experimental abstract filmmaker

Jordan Belson who passed last week

"Part avant-garde animator, part optical alchemist, part mystic, part psychologist of perception, Mr. Belson made more than 30 short films between the late 1940s and 2005, all of which defy ready classification.

Wordless, they employ moving, abstract images of mercurial fluidity painstakingly choreographed to music. As they slowly change size, form, color and direction, the images rivet the eye."

My loves & I chased a storm down the California coast to catch the tail end of the Zandra Rhodes exhibit at the Mingei Museum.

Well worth cutting thru the dark clouds. It felt like I'd stepped into a dream world. To see all her lovely prints & little delicate details up close was incredible, I was practically drooling all over the chiffon. Some of those frocks looked like they were floating in the air... was beyond inspiring.
