a bigger splash

A Bigger Splash is a great glimpse into the world of David Hockney & his circle of friends which include Ossie Clark and Celia Birtwell. There's not much of a plot in the film but I thouroughly enjoyed getting to peer into the studios & homes of these artists I so admire. Hockney is such a dandy of his day & his style is incredible. My absolute favorite is a scene of a live fashion show Ossie & Celia did for Quorum. Their frocks are so flirty & glamorous, the models dance along the catwalk having a grand ol time. The trailer below shows a bit of that scene, it also seems to be trying to pitch the movie as being dramatic but it's mostly just a nice slice of Hockney's life in the early 70's.
